Three women leaders who MYX home and work life

Three women leaders who MYX home and work life

March 8, 2021 is International Women’s Day and this year the focus is on female leadership. Three behind-the-scenes women at MYXfitness are examples of what it means to be strong female business leaders. Director of Content Erika Shannon-Hathaway, CFO/COO Elizabeth Mulligan, and Chief Marketing Officer Rabia Qari shared their thoughts about showing up for everyone as they balance professional and personal lives.

Director of Content Erika Shannon-Hathaway says you can’t put a price on a positive and flexible corporate culture. “Anytime anything comes up, all I have to say is I have to attend to mom stuff and there are no questions asked,” she says. “Our CEO Herbie Calves has always been very nurturing and family-first. He's a dad with two kids himself.”

Still, she acknowledges that the playing field for women, in general, isn’t always equal. By nature, women often juggle and prioritize changing demands at home and work. Sometimes that means surrendering to the reality that you can’t do everything well all of the time. “On any given day, as a leader at work and at home, you have to decide what ball you're going to let fall to the ground,” she says.

CFO/COO Elizabeth Mulligan can relate, especially as a professional with a young child. “As I've gotten older, I have a better understanding of what my teams can and can't get done because we all lead busy lives,” she says.

In other words, there’s more to life than work. Striking and maintaining a healthy balance between the two is key. Chief Marketing Officer Rabia Qari, a veteran of the health and wellness space, agrees. She likes the simplicity and approachability of the MYX brand for that reason. It keeps fitness fun and simple and removes all of the noise so you can get results. Qari says that message resonates with her. “Working from home during the pandemic while managing kids means that if I have 20 minutes to myself to work out, I’m going to get the most out of it,” she says. “Because that's my ‘me time’.”

Let’s hear it for these inspirational women who are leading boldly and with intention. The future is female, and no doubt a little brighter with you in the MYX!
